The Buckaroo Foundation was founded by a group of parents who believed in the therapy at the barn, and who also experienced the extra costs of raising a special needs child.

The Buckaroo Foundation supports the therapy that patients receive at the Buckaroo Barn out in Bay Minette. The barn is a place where patients receive physical therapy on horseback also known as hippo therapy. Hippo therapy is a therapy treatment tool which uses the movement of the horse to influence the rider's posture, balance, function, and sensory processing. The patients have way more fun doing lunges on horseback rather than in a clinical setting and the movement of the horse is a catalyst to their progress.

Most insurances only cover about 30 therapy visits a year which is not nearly enough when you want to provide your child the best chance to become independent in life. The foundation enables families to bridge that gap in order for the patients at the barn to make the most of their abilities through therapy received.

Our mission is to provide accessibility for children and adults with special needs so that they can reach their fullest potential. This includes paying therapy bills, purchasing equipment a patient may need, or provide accommodations to the barn.
